Garage Sale!

When I ran CROMEgallery on the southside of Chicago, I came up with a reoccurring group exhibit titled “Garage Sale” every last Sunday in the gallery!

The concept came to me in 2014 after cleaning out gallery storage, realizing I had a lot of art I necessarily wouldn’t exhibit and struggle with the decision of scrapping for materials and painting sonething new? Or, maybe someone who can’t afford the every-day priced art - will want original art from artists who don’t? For a steal?

I talked to several artists who agreed this needed to happen because they struggle with the same rough decision making - and it was born!

Every last Sunday of each month, I’d have 5-10 artists, music, grilling out front with byob - it became a fun event within the community. All art was under $200.

It allowed struggling artists and struggling every day folks to come together, unite, and form alliances - to adorn their walls with beautiful and rare art that will probably be worth a lot some day.

This was such a great concept that I’m continuing it online until I return to owning my own space to offer this all out of again!
